Sometimes life hits you so hard, you don’t know if you’ll ever catch your breath again. One moment you’re standing, and the next you’re flat on your back—staring up at a sky that feels like it’s falling right with you.
I’ve been there. We all have, in one way or another. And in those moments, it’s easy to believe the setback is the end of the story. But what if it’s just the beginning?
Take Job, for example. A man who lost everything—his children, his wealth, his health. All gone in what felt like a blink. People around him said he must have done something wrong. Even his wife told him to curse God and give up. But Job held on, even if it was by a thread.
What Job didn’t know—what we often can’t see in our own storms—is that the setback wasn’t punishment. It was preparation. God was still writing. And by the end of the story, Job had more than he lost. Not just in things, but in faith. In understanding. In peace.
We often pray for strength, but forget that strength is built under pressure. We ask for growth, not realizing growth requires letting go. We want purpose, but purpose is usually found in the rubble.
That moment when everything fell apart? It wasn’t your breaking point—it was your turning point.
So whether your setback looks like a lost job, a broken relationship, a battle with addiction, or just waking up every day feeling stuck—don’t count yourself out.
God isn’t done. Your story isn’t over. And sometimes, the greatest comebacks begin right after the greatest collapses.
Because a setback is just a cover-up for a comeback.
And the best chapters are still being written.
